LaVonne holds a BS degree in Home Economics Education and a MA degree
in Adult Education.
She was a professor at the University of Minnesota for 15 years, where
she taught nutrition, food budgeting and meal management through the Agricultural
Extension Service and the Expanded Food and Nutrition Program. Much of her
work at the University included the development of educational teaching
materials suitable for a variety of ethnic populations including: American
Indian, Black, Cambodian, Hmong, Spanish and Vietnamese.
Following their six-year sailing adventure, LaVonne and her husband settled
in San Diego, CA. They have six children and ten grandchildren.
